  • Sonya Prear

    Senior Vice President

    Sonya Prear joined John Hancock Realty Advisors, Inc. as Director of Asset Management in 2007. Sonya has 28 years of experience in the financial services industry and for the past 18 years has focused on real estate and affordable housing with experience in both debt and equity transactions. She previously served at Citibank as Market Director for the Illinois Region within the lending arm of Citi Community Capital, and as Vice President of the Asset Stabilization Group at the National Equity Fund where she was responsible for managing the company's portfolio of troubled affordable housing investments.

    Prior to joining the National Equity Fund, Sonya was a Vice President at the former First National Bank of Chicago (now JP Morgan Chase), serving in the Neighborhood Lending, Real Estate Asset Enhancement and International Asset Enhancement Divisions. She began her career at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh in the International Department.

    Sonya obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and her MBA from the Wharton School.


  • Veronica Gominho

    Vice President

    Veronica is responsible for managing a portfolio of troubled projects that require significant financial restructuring, recapitalization or refinancing of debt, sale or dissolution of partnership assets or replacement of a general partner.

    Prior to joining JHRA, Ms. Gominho served as Portfolio Manager with Boston Financial Group where she was responsible for monitoring property acquisitions, operations and portfolio performance of the company’s public funds. Prior to that she was involved with the acquisition of tax credit properties and asset management of pre-1986 partnerships in the same company.

    Ms. Gominho received a B.S. degree from the University of the Philippines and a M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.


  • Janet Stevens

    Vice President

    Janet Stevens is responsible for managing a portion of JHRA’s tax credit portfolio including investor reporting, equity funding, compliance monitoring and analysis of investment performance.

    Prior to joining JHRA, Ms. Stevens was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Edison Capital Housing Investments with asset management responsibilities for the firm’s direct investments as well as maintaining investor relations for a $150 million syndicated portfolio. Previously, Ms. Stevens acquired extensive real estate investment experience with a variety of institutional owners including The New England, BankBoston and AEW Capital Management, LP.

    Ms. Stevens received a M.B.A. degree from Simmons College, Graduate School of Management. She holds the Real Properties Administrator designation from Building Owners and Managers Association.


  • Christopher Osborne

    Assistant Vice President

    Christopher Osborne is responsible for managing a portion of JHRA’s tax credit portfolio including investor reporting, equity funding, compliance monitoring and analysis of investment performance.

    Prior to joining JHRA, Mr. Osborne was an Assistant Vice President and Team Leader at Boston Capital Corporation. As a Team Leader, he oversaw the asset management of a large Section 42 portfolio and maintained developer and management agent relationships to ensure the long-term value of the properties. Prior professional experience includes eight years of real estate related responsibilities within the banking industry.

    Mr. Osborne received a B.A. degree from Framingham State College.


  • Susan Symington

    Assistant Vice President

    Susan Symington is responsible for managing a portion of JHRA’s tax credit portfolio in areas including investor reporting, trend analysis, equity funding, compliance monitoring, and statistical analysis of investment performance.

    Ms. Symington has over 18 years of real estate experience. Prior to joining JHRA, Ms. Symington worked for a family owned business and was involved in multi-faceted transactions involving the redevelopment and management of commercial and historical real estate in the Boston area. In addition, Ms. Symington has previously worked with Boston Capital in a consulting capacity preparing refinance packages for lending institutions.

    Ms. Symington received a B.S. degree from Lesley University in Cambridge. She holds a Certified Property Manger (CPM) designation from IREM.


  • Daniel Schmidt

    Asset Management Analyst

    Daniel Schmidt is responsible for providing analytical support to the Asset Managers who are responsible for overseeing a portfolio of tax credit investments.

    Prior to joining JHRA, Mr. Schmidt completed his B.S. degree in Business Administration from Bryant University.
